Winewood Christian Schools

Teach a youth about the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6 - HCSB)

       Winewood School History & Philosophy

Winewood Christian School (WCS) was formed in 1999 by Rev. John H. Davis, Jr., Senior Pastor of Winewood Baptist Christian Fellowship Church.  After detecting that about two thirds of the high school boys that participated  in the church’s basketball program average reading level was  on the 5th grade level, Rev. Davis started a reading tutorial program to help the boys progress in their public schools. This reading tutorial program eventually expanded to a variety of other tutorial courses. Since our tutorial programs had begun to look like a school Pastor Davis decided to create Winewood Christian School, Incorporated.

WCS is a traditional school, with distance learning offerings as well.   Our purpose is to minister to the needs of parents who wish to take up their God given responsibility to educate their children in a Christian based spiritual environment. We are a ministry designed to serve the needs of the family in this way.

Enrollment in WCS is also open to all households which are committed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and are in agreement with our doctrinal statement as well as our procedures, policies, and standards. WCS is not racially discriminatory and does not exclude families from enrollment in its programs and activities based on race, color, nationality, or ethnic origin.

WCS is an independent, non-denominational Christian ministry of Winewood Baptist Christian Fellowship Church of Birmingham, Alabama. We are a ministry designed to serve the needs of the family
